Portray–An App Tutorial and Giveaway!

PortrayI am so excited to be able to give away one of my favorite apps…Portray!  I only discovered it a few weeks ago and already it’s become one of my go to apps when editing for a sketchy look.  I’ve used it as a stand alone app without any additional editing and also incorporated by blending a layer edited in Portray with other layers edited with additional apps.  The variety of combinations is extensive given all the different styles and adjustments within the app.

It’s simple to use.  Load your photo and choose from 17 Settings to begin your edit.

For my example, I chose Fully Drawn.

I then used the eraser to remove some of the outer edges of the sketch.

Next, I changed the sketch style to All Scratched Up (you can choose from 14 styles) and I also changed the color style to Graphic Print using the separate color menu (23 styles to choose here!).

Finally, I changed the paper style (10 styles) to Handmade Washi.  I love the result!

Here are some more edits I created using Portray.

This app is amazing...! Thanks, as always, for the opportunity, Geri! :)

P.S. I LOVE your tutorials - they're so helpful. This is my only frustration with apps at times...there's very little instruction. I have so many that I've downloaded but am clueless about working with.

I love your work and your generosity in sharing about apps and artists. I am especially drawn, o pun intended, to drawing and painting apps. Honestly, I would really like to win this one!

I am soooo inspired by your work. I have this app and used it a bit but noticed it's actually $3 more to get the additional goods. I'm with Sherri. This one is lacking in operating info.

@Dennis Miranda - thanks for entering, but I have no way to contact you if you win!

@Roxi-Coppercurls - I think there is still enough in the basic app to do some amazing edits. I did purchase the extra goodies, but I'm app-dicted! I hope to do more tutorials of various apps if time permits! So much to learn, so little time!

The archway picture is quite impressive! It actually looks like marble.

So far I always skipped purchasing the app, as the preview pictures on the app-page for some reason don't reflect how powerful that app can be.

But after seeing you tutorial I'd really love to give it a go :-)
